This is the time of year that summer reads are recommended. The Sunday paper insert “Parade” includes a list by regional destination that sort of makes you want to go there as well as read the book. I wish I had thought of that. But we try to do that in the bookstore with our themed window displays (thoughtfully done by Diane). Our “Local Authors” shelf also has a little display of Lake Superior books that include Warren Lang’s poetry collection and two books of part memoir, part reflective essay based on the lakes. The next book on my own list are Christopher Moore’s Sacre’ Bleu set in 1890s France, so it represents a virtual vacation. If you like Vreeland’s novel about art and women artists, Sacre Bleu should appeal to you too.
