Prairie Readers

Who Has Seen the Wind, a 1947memoir by Canadian writer W.O Mitchell captures the essence of growing up in a small town “in the middle of nowhere.” The result is a sort of Everyman. The larger world beyond the prairie town, politics, urban life, war, hardly encroach on the story which instead focuses on family relationships, friendship, nature & nurture. The book is a sort of vintage print version of the recent Brad Pitt movie Tree of Life. Many readers are deeply moved by Mitchell’s tellling of a timeless tale. Nothing and everything happens in it, a lyrical tale of life, growth, beginnings and endings.
